Last weeks announcement from Photoshop World was one that really took me by surprise. onOne software dropped the bomb on everyone that they were releasing an update to their suite of software. This major upgrade introduced completely new and updated products like Perfect Portrait and Perfect Effects, Perfect Layers 2, and Perfect Mask 5.
Being a somewhat new user to most of their software I can’t personally speak to how much of an enhancement all of these updates are going to be. But when I saw that they had added a tool for portraiture I was stoked. I don’t do a whole lot of portrait work but I keep looking at the tools available and playing with their demos. By onOne placing this in their suite I have been given the opportunity to really dive in without limitations and try this out. I can’t say this is going to make me jump in to the world of portraiture photography, but I love the fact that another option for editing now available.
I think the greatest feature they added is the fact that you no longer need to run their software from within a host. In plain English this means you no longer need to have Aperture, Lightroom, or Photoshop to use onOne’s software. I find this great mostly because in my day job I support multiple systems that all rely on each other to work and upgrading them is like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. So any company that frees me from relying on another company to use their product gets a better endorsement from me.
onOne is currently offering discounted pricing to those who pre-order.
They haven’t posted how long this pricing is good for but right now you can buy the whole suite new for $299.95 or Upgrade for $149.95
