One of the most fascinating parts of renaissance festivals to me is taking the opportunity to get to know the people. Almost everyone you meet tends to be overly friendly and more than willing to share a part of their life and history if you just take the time to ask.
We hadn’t been at the fair for more than ten minutes when I aimed my camera at Bonnie. This quickly led to a thirty minute discussion which included her extraordinary skills in feather work.
Bonnie, who is based out of New York, decided to grace the Texas Renaissance Festival with a booth selling her artistic feather creations. Her showpiece was this beautiful bird. Set up as a table centerpiece it can also be worn as a hat. It has already been booked for many different parties and other special occasions.
I can’t wait to see Bonnie again next year. Maybe she will have something new and exciting for me to photograph. Maybe then I can find out why her booth name is spelled Fowle Playe?.
