As of recently I have been spending a lot of time working on my HDR photography. One of the things I love trying to capture is texture. I love being able to make the details of decay and rust pop out of a photograph. I know sometimes I may over process my photos and am still working on finding that fine line between realistic and overdone.
With my interest these types of structures I keep running into the sign you see in today’s image. This sign immediately grabbed my attention. I loved the way the letters were peeling off and the golden rust engulfing the metal.
I originally post processed this trying to pull all the detail out in the color, but after reviewing in black and white I liked the simplistic look more. It also allowed me to pull attention to the sign and the fence making the background not distract. I did the post processing of this image in NIK Silver Efex Pro. Let me know what you think of it. Would you rather have seen it in color?
